Terrace Farming Possibilities

The terrace farming is not limited to vegetables or fruits, rice manufacturers in India
says that even paddy fields can be successfully grown on your terrace gardens.

Earlier in Kerala we all have a kitchen garden on the backyards , but the culture
lost somewhere when people become professionals and less attached to the soil.

How To Start Terrace Farming? 

Get The Right Space : Go for a regular terrace garden with pots or you can make the
entire terrace as the lawn filling soil, but make sure the terrace is strong and leak proof
to avoid further damage.

Nutrient Rich Soil : You can add compost every week or add essential nutrients to the

soil. Heavy rain can wash away the nutrients in soil. So perform farming in nutrient rich

soil.

Start with small pots and single vegetables:  Just like children plant the seed and wait

for the growth , if you are a fresh farmer start terrace farming with small pots and

single vegetables and after expand to multi farming.

Water Regularly : The garden should be watered twice a day in summer season and

make sure the plants get direct sunlight for growing. Over watering is harmful , so

don’t water during rainy days.

We can control our monthly budget on vegetables and groceries , if we have a

self sufficient terrace garden on our roof top.

current economic recession , there is no magic but we have to do fruitful
measures on soils and our surroundings than investing entire time on laptops
and mobile phones.

The farm is more than land and crops its our family heritage and future, so
